portman office  tower

Year

2012

Location

Shanghai, PRC

Description

The project proposes the
redesigning of a 35 story building, from the division of the interior space to the complete reskinning. As the structure of the tower didn’t leave too many options for shape modification, the main challenge of the project was the skin itself.

The goal was to make the building stand out between the classical Chinese architecture of the Jing’An Temple and the more modern KPF tower nearby.

The final concept - that would make the building stand out in the dull concrete and glass
environment of Shanghai - utilized the addition of colour to the skin.
